  • According to FE fundinfo, over 10 years to 8 April 2026, the FTF ClearBridge UK Equity Income fund has generated a cumulative capital return of 126.67%. This compares with the average fund in the IA UK Equity Income sector, which is up 95.33%.
  • “The fund has been in existence for decades, and since inception it has a very enviable track record,” said Russon. “It has consistently outperformed the market and delivered superior returns, compared against both the peer group and its benchmark.”
  • Looking at more recent times, the fund is ranked second quartile over one, three and five years, while it is first quartile over the past three and six months.
  • In terms of contributors to returns, Russon said the fund’s large-cap bias has proved beneficial, which it has captured through sectors such as banks, resources and tobacco.
  • “These large parts of the UK markets have been performing very well in recent years and we have captured that through our positioning,” he said. “Not only has it been a large part of our capital return, but also given they are large dividend paying sectors, it has aided the income as well.”
