- According to FE fundinfo, since launch in May 2012 to 31 Dec 2025, the Artemis Monthly Distribution Fund has generated a capital return of 244.98%. Over the same time period, the fund’s peer group, the IA Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares sector, has seen an average return of 96.03%.
- Since inception, Passmore said the fund has yielded on average about 4%, growing at an annualised rate of circa 3.4%*, a level he noted is above inflation over that time.
- While the contributors to performance have changed since launch, Passmore noted a common theme has been the willingness to invest where others do not.
- “Over recent years our allocation to defence equities have had a meaningful contribution, while Japanese equities and banks have also had strong performance,” he said. “On the fixed income side, being short duration and looking at the higher quality end of the high-yield market, has also proved beneficial.”
- Another differentiator, noted Passmore is the lack of a specific income target for the portfolio. “When looking for companies to either loan or lend to, we want good business models and good free cash flows and from there we can find a pretty attractive income,” he said. “We think this is a safer approach than starting with an income target and backfilling it from there.”
